On a spring morning, an old woman was sitting on the sofa in her house.
معنی: در یک روز بهاری، پیرزنی روی کاناپه خانه اش نشسته بود.
Her young son was reading a newspaper. Suddenly a pigeon sat on the window.
معنی: پسر جوانش روزنامه می خواند. ناگهان کبوتری روی پنجره نشست.
The mother asked her son quietly, “What is this?” The son replied: “It is a pigeon”.
معنی: مادر به آرامی از پسرش پرسید “این چیست؟”. پسر جواب داد: “این یک کبوتر است”
After a few minutes, she asked her son for the second time, “What is this?”
معنی: بعد از چند دقیقه، مادر برای دومین بار از پسرش پرسید: “این چیست؟”.
The son said, “Mom, I have just told you, “It is a pigeon, a pigeon”.
معنی: پسر گفت:” مامان، همین الان بهت گفتم، “این یک کبوتره، کبوتر”.
After a little while, the old mother asked her son for the third time, “What is this?” This time the son shouted at his mother,
معنی: بعد از مدتی، مادر پیر برای سومین بار از پسرش پرسید:” این چیست؟”این دفعه پسر سر مادرش داد کشید،
“Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again? Are you hard of hearing?”
معنی: چرا یک سوال مشابه را دوباره و دوباره می پرسی؟ گوشت سنگین است؟
A little later, the mother went to her room and came back with an old diary.
معنی: چند لحظه بعد، ماد ربه اتاقش رفت و با یک دفترچه خاطرات کهنه بازگشت.
She said, “My dear son, I bought this diary when you were born”.
معنی: او گفت:”پسر عزیزم، من این دفترچه خاطرات رو وقتی به دنیا اومدی خریدم”.
Then, she opened a page and kindly asked her son to read that page.
معنی: سپس، او صفحه‌ای از آن دفترچه را باز کرد و با مهربانی از پسرش خواست که آن صفحه را بخواند.
The son looked at the page, paused and started reading it aloud:

Today my little son was sitting on my lap, when a pigeon sat on the window.
معنی: امروز پسر کوچک من روی پایم من نشسته بود، وقتی که یک کبوتر روی پنجره نشست،
My son asked me what it was 15 times, and I replied to him all 15 times that it was a pigeon.
معنی: پسرم 15 بار از من سؤال کرد که این چیست، و من همه 15 بار به او پاسخ دادم که این یک کبوتر است.
I hugged him lovingly each time when he asked me the same question again and again.
معنی: هر بار که او دوباره و دوباره همان سؤال را از من پرسید ، با محبت او را بغل کردم.
I did not feel angry at all. I was actually feeling happy for my lovely child.
معنی: من اصلاً حس عصبانی بودن نداشتم. در واقع برای کودک عزیزم احساس خوشبختی می کردم.
